ウェールズ The Asu Grove とねりこの木立 The ash grove, how graceful, how plainly 'tis speaking, The harp through it playing has language for me; Whenever the light through its branches is breaking, A host of kind faces is gazing on me. トネリコの木立　何と奥ゆかしく　飾りのない物言いよ 汝が奏でるハープが私に語りかける 枝からこぼれる光が　優しく私を見つめる The friends of my childhood again are before me, Each step wakes a mem'ry, as freely I roam; With soft whispers laden, its leaves rustle o'er me; The ash grove, the ashgrove alone is my home. 子供の頃からの友達　気ままに歩けば　気分も明るく ハラハラと舞い落ちる木の葉の優しいささやき トネリコの木立　トネリコの木立　私の故郷よ とねりこのこだちよ なんと優美に なんと分かりやすく 話しかけてくるのだろう 木立から聞こえてくるハープの調べはわたしに 言葉を語りかけ 枝の間から光が漏れてくるとき たくさんの優しい顔が私を見つめている 子供時代の友達が再び私の前に現れ 歩むたびに自由に駆け回っていたころの思い出が蘇る さらさらという音を立ててその葉が私につぶやきかえる とねりこの木立よ 私は今故郷に一人 私の唇に微笑みは浮かばず胸から陽気さは失せてしまった 心に浮かぶ将来の夢も消え 楽しかった過ぎた日々に思いをめぐらす事ができるだけ その死を悼んだ人々がここでは生き返っている 暗い片隅から彼らは私に会うために前に進み出てくる 私は空を覆う葉を見上げる するとそこには他の人たちもいて下にいる私に挨拶をしてくれる とねりこのこだちよ 今私は故郷にひとり The ash grove, how graceful, how plainly tis speaking, the harp wind through it playing has language for me. With soft whispers laden its leaves rustle o'er me, the ash grove, the ash grove again alone is my home. Down yonder green valley where streamlets meander when twilight is fading I pensively rove. Or at the bright noontide in solitude wander amid the dark shades of the lonely ash grove. Twas there while the blackbird was cheerfully singing I first met that dear one, the joy of my heart. Around us for gladness the bluebells were springing the ash grove, the ash grove that sheltered my home. My laughter is over, my step loses lightness, old countryside measures steal soft on my ears; I only remember the past and its brightness, the dear ones I mourn for again gather here. From out of the shadows their loving looks greet me, and wistfully searching the leafy green dome, I find other faces fond bending to greet me, the ash grove, the ash grove alone is my home.
